Leg 6 started with fresh upwind conditions to close reaching 20 to 25 knots on our way to south of Taiwan. After crossing the lee side of Taiwan, we saw the maximum winds of around 30-35 knots for a brief period off the southern tip. Upwind conditions continued then as we moved east and the fleet split in two groups with some boats tacking early onto starboard.
We tacked onto starboard as well through the night, and we can see DFRT, TBRU and also TTOP in the distance and in AIS at times.
Winds are starting to free up to the SE and we are currently sailing close reaching with 20 knots of wind, while speedo showing 14 and 15 knots at times.
Routing will take us NE for a bit, then recurving E and SE north of the Mariana Islands, using a North Pacific front and winds are expected to clock all the way around to S, SW, NW and NE as front passes and next high re builds to our north.
