Together without losing a mile. The position reports are really surprising. Differences in speed are as little as 0.1 to 0.2 knots, impressive. We’ve been sailing for around 60 hours with all boats in sight, except for Brunel, who is going her own way.
Today we are reaching and the waves are back on deck, and humidity really picked up. The waves are very short and make for a really uncomfortable sea state, we slammed onto the water badly several times.
Our minds are set up for the last leg which will last more than 15 days, and also for the intense heat, sticky and humid. Team SCA has been to our leeward the whole day, it’s really nice to see the magenta boat sailing the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and even nicer knowing that it’s full of the best women sailors worldwide.
The tracker must be delivering an amazing show, but from here I can only say that the sheets are streched to the limit and we’ve got all the weight to windward like never before.
Talking with Bochecha, relaxed after the great farewell in Itajaí, he mentioned this part of the race is like an F1 bend where the car goes at the limit and the weight of the pilot becomes critical.
You have to push and follow the shifts the best you can because when we reach the Doldrums the bungee will come into play again.
