Dear Southern Ocean,
The gybing party has been raving nonstop today and looks to continue for at least the next 12 hours. We’ve done so many I’ve lost count. You don’t sleep and it doesn’t seem like you want my crew to either. They have been fighting hard and strong since the gybing party began last night, snagging sleep wherever possible in places that would normally be deemed unfit to sleep but pass as acceptable when you are so exhausted. I can see it in their eyes. They know why they are here and the competition is in sight. That is what keeps them going strong. They are a family that takes care of each other, especially when times get tough and they are showing that now.
Thank you for settling down a bit for us this afternoon with the sun shining bright and taking an intermission from your magic show of making water appear all over the boat all the time. We are appreciating a dryer boat this evening.
We know you like to rev it up in the evenings and the next gybe is coming up so we better get ready.
