Happy Labor Day to you all! A day of rest and celebration. I hope that you may spend this day with your family or doing what you like best. We are fighting with seaweed, surfing waves and sailing with trade winds of 20-22 knots.
All this seaweed is entangled in our rudder, it’s crazy. We have to stop the boat completely and remove all the seaweed. We do this manoeuvre every hour between 2 and 3 times. It’s frustrating.
Every time we stop, the others take more and more miles from us, and this is frustrating. We hope that others are in our same situation because it would be very unlucky that only we’re being attacked by seaweed.
Temperature is very good thanks to the Caribbean waters. In fact, the bravest go on deck without their water gear. Last night we sailed through an area in which I’ve sailed so it was nice. Memories of my first and only transatlantic race I did (from Ireland to Barbados) came to my mind.
The boat is on fire but we think we are suffering more with the seaweed than the other guys. The crew is working hard and we are sailing well.
