Winners of the Around Hong Kong Island Race
After a painful start, in clearly light and unstable wind conditions, the Spanish team, skippered by Basque sailor Xabi Fernández, took command of the Around Hong Kong Island Race.
MAPFRE ready for action
Xabi Fernández’s crew face the HGC In-port race and Around Hong Kong Island Race, being held this weekend (on Saturday and Sunday respectively), and whose combined results will count as one event on the Volvo Ocean Race In-Port Race Series scoring board.
A lesson learnt
The Spanish team has arrived in Hong Kong, where they finished Leg four of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 in fourth place. MAPFRE crossed the finish line at 09:51 local time (02:51 h in Spain) after 17 days 22 hours 36 minutes and 10 seconds
